A Master Thesis at the Faculty of Science at the University of Kirkuk discussed the genetic and bacteriological study of H. pylori bacteria causing gastric ulcer, by the student Osaf Ibrahim Al-Bayati.

The study included the identification of the most efficient method in the diagnosis of H. pylori bacteria, the most suitable sample for diagnosis of infection, isolation and diagnosis of H. pylori bacteria causing gastrointestinal diseases and their development on different cultures media. Molecular testing using PCR and RT-PCR is the gold standard for the diagnosis of bacterial infection. The researcher recommended the introduction of bacterial screening in the general stool screening system for laboratory tests in central health laboratories and pathological laboratories.
