The Department of Public Relations and Media is the official interface of the University and the window through which communication, interaction and coordination between the various institutions of the State and society in general and educational institutions in particular. And reach the goals that the department seeks to achieve with its cadres of media and management qualified and able to perform its functions in the best and fullest image.
The Department works to achieve a number of objectives and summarized as follows:
To achieve positive communication and cooperation with the institutions of the state and the different society and try to find formulas and mechanisms of mutual coordination with them to strengthen the role of the university in leading the process of reconstruction and construction across all sectors of our dear country.
To improve the status of the university media in a way that enables it to perform its tasks correctly, effectively and creatively.
To create a positive and bright image of the role played by the university in supporting the scientific research movement and supporting the cases of creativity and innovation in it.
To promote cultural awareness in the student body and to promote the values and principles of freedom of expression, opinion and respect for human rights.
Tasks and duties of the department
Planning the media policy of the university in coordination with the administrative and scientific leaders.
Documenting the activities and activities of the University from conferences, symposia, cultural seasons, seminars, visits of delegations to the University and preparing detailed reports, including video and photographic images, and sending them to the relevant authorities in the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research.
The media coverage of all the above activities and events in the newspapers and periodicals issued by the department after being included on the special page of the department on the website of the university.
The mutual coordination between the department and the print, audio and visual media and facilitate its functions at the university through the public relations network linking the department with these means.
Issuing a newspaper (Kirkuk University), a general university newspaper.
The production of documentary films that monitor the University's scientific and architectural progress. Two documentary films were produced.
Organizing media exhibitions for all annual activities and products of the department.
Issuing the Kirkuk University Yearbook.

The Department of Public Relations and Information consists of:
1. Public Relations Division
It is the responsibility of the university to communicate with the various Iraqi universities through the publications issued by the department, which documents the activities and events taking place in the university and inviting them to participate in conferences, scientific symposiums and workshops as well as coordination with various satellite channels and the media.
2 - Division of activity and information coordination
It is the responsibility of this department to follow up and promote all activities and events that go through the university and different colleges and published in the university newspaper.
3 - Division of the university channel space
It covers the activities and activities of the scientific and cultural colleges and others, and prepares reports and programs that are filmed with high accuracy and technical quality and sent to the al-Jamiyya satellite channel in Baghdad.
