Mr. Allawi Muhammad Ibrahim, head of the Dean’s Office, and Assistant Lecturer Sarah Hatem Abdullah, head of the Women’s Empowerment Unit, participated in the round table meeting in the presence of Engineer Ali Hammadi, Assistant Governor for Technical Affairs, the representative of the United Nations Mission Office, Mr. Ricardo Siva, and a number of representatives of civil society organizations and personalities. Discussing “a questionnaire for consultations with civil society on women, peace and security, and women’s representation and participation in political dialogues, national reforms, and electoral processes.”
In this meeting, the active participation of women and their influence in Iraqi politics, the success stories they have achieved in all aspects of society, the lessons learned from these experiences, the most important challenges facing women’s work, especially in the political and cultural aspects, and the role of the clan and society in light of the approaching elections, were discussed. Provincial councils and the need for their presence in sovereign and executive positions
As a result, the government is informed of the results and recommendations of consultations with civil society organizations in order to help them implement the government program and involve them in a national dialogue to review the political process.
The foundations for broad participation in the national forum to be held and the selection of participants in consultations at the Iraqi governorate level were also discussed.
